Garuda Indonesia has issued a ban on MacBook Pro laptops from all luggage, including cabin, baggage and cargo services. The ban was issued after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and IATA Dangerous Good Regulations (Special Provisions A154) banned specific types of MacBook Pro 15-inch from all flights. The prohibited laptop model is the 15-inch MacBook Pro (Retina display) released from September 2015 and February 2017.

The state owned enterprise through an official statement on Thursday said that they have issued the ban as a preventative security measure for all Garuda Indonesia flights. Garuda Indonesia also stated that they will continue coordinating with related parties and stakeholders about the issue.

More details about the laptops in question can be found on https://support.apple.com/en-sg/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall. Apple recalled these models back in June because of an issue with the laptop battery, and last week, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) banned the same models of MacBook Pro from all US flights because the lithium battery may overheat and ignite inside an aircraft.
