The public prosecutor demanded the woman, L. V. S., 33, to be sentenced to one year and six months in jail at her trial at Denpasar District Court on Monday. The prosecution stated that the defendant violated Article 127 of Indonesian Law number 35 of 2009 about class l narcotics.
It was stated during the trial that the defendant bought 11.81 grams of cocaine worth approx. Rp 20 million from a man named Zac, who is currently still at large. According to Bali Post, after hearing the public prosecutor demands, the defendant’s lawyer demanded time to counter and defend the woman.
The case began when police received information that there was a foreigner often consuming narcotics in the Seminyak area.
While investigating the report, they arrested the woman on May 23, 2019, at around 11.30pm on Jalan Pengubengan Kauh, Kerobokan, North Kuta. Police secured three plastic clips of cocaine with a total weight of 11.81 grams. When the yoga teacher was interrogated, she admitted that she had bought the cocaine from an Australian man named Zac.
